Discover the character and beauty of Painshill’s remarkable trees at this autumn photography workshop led by Imber Court Photo Training.

Set within Painshill’s historic landscape, this immersive day will encourage you to look more closely at the trees that help shape its distinctive scenery. From the texture and detail of bark and fallen leaves to sweeping branches, striking silhouettes and the sculptural forms of mature trees, you’ll discover plenty of inspiration through your lens.

Autumn provides a wonderful backdrop for the workshop, with changing leaves, softer seasonal light and fallen foliage adding colour and texture to the landscape. Rather than focusing solely on autumn colour, the day will explore different ways to photograph trees and capture their individual character.

Whether you’re using a digital camera or your smartphone, you’re warmly welcome. With expert guidance, you’ll explore a variety of locations around Painshill, looking at both close-up details and trees within the wider historic landscape.

Your tutor, Ashley Gardner, is an experienced photography instructor who provides hands-on support throughout the day. Through practical exercises and personalised feedback, you’ll refine essential techniques including composition, light and focus — and learn how to use them creatively.

Workshops are kept intentionally small to ensure individual attention and a relaxed, supportive learning environment. Whether you’re just beginning your photography journey or looking to develop your skills further, the day will be tailored to your experience level. No specialist equipment is required — simply bring the camera you’re comfortable using.

Workshop Highlights:
Exploring the shapes, textures and character of Painshill’s trees.
Capturing details including bark, branches, leaves and natural patterns.
Using autumn light, shadow and silhouettes to create atmosphere.
Photographing trees as part of Painshill’s wider historic landscape.

Practical exercises with constructive, supportive feedback.

What to Bring:
Your camera — whether that’s a standard digital camera or your smartphone.
A selection of lenses (if available).
Tripod (recommended but not essential).
