Sue Biggs CBE

Sue began her first career in the travel industry, where she worked for 30 years. 25 of these were with Kuoni Travel, the award winning long haul tour operator where she was Managing Director for the last seven years, the first female and non-Swiss person to do so. In 2010 she made a complete change and became Director General of the Royal Horticultural Society and in 2017 she was made a CBE for her services to the environment and ornamental horticulture. She stepped down in 2022, becoming the longest serving director of this national charity, having doubled the charity’s membership and earnings, and with her team made it more accessible for all.

Sue has lived in Cobham for 13 years and loves the beautiful walks around Cobham (including Painshill of course!), her garden and travel.

Things to see & Do

Painshill is an award-winning 18th century landscape garden where you are invited to walk around a work of art. Winding paths will take you on a journey to discover a living canvas with beautiful vistas and dramatically placed garden buildings. Stroll around the Serpentine Lake, wander through woodland and promenade past follies, including the Ruined Abbey, Gothic Temple and Turkish Tent.
