Celebrate World Bee Day (20th May) with a fascinating exploration of one of nature’s most remarkable creations.
What exactly is honey? What makes one honey better than another? Why can a jar cost less than £1 — while others sell for hundreds of pounds? And how can we spot adulterated honey?
Join us as we explore — and taste — a variety of honeys from different floral sources and regions. Discover what influences flavour, texture, colour, and price, and learn how to recognise quality and authenticity — while celebrating the vital role bees play in our ecosystems.
Peter Smith is a beekeeper and amateur entomologist with ten years’ experience of keeping bees and producing honey. In this time he has learned a lot about, and developed a passion for, these wonderful creatures and all the other pollinators that we share our gardens with. Peter’s fully illustrated talks are designed to entertain as well as inform and are aimed at everyone with an interest in the natural world.
