The long eighteenth century, as it became known, laid the foundations for today’s society. It also saw the creation of the one art form for which the English can lay sole claim – the English Landscape Movement. This talk will focus on the multitude of reasons that influenced the creation of these gardens – the fashion for which quickly spread throughout Britain and on to mainland Europe and North America.
