Woodlander: Outdoor Team Building

An excellent opportunity to get out of the office, get air in your lungs and get back to basics. This activity combines elements of survival skills with an introduction to the wild flora -  great introduction to the great outdoors and a great way to bond with your colleagues.

Orienteering: First off its time to pick up your maps and compasses and see if you can find your way through Painshill Park's blooming gardens, round our beautiful lake visiting the temples and ancient ruins and all the way through our wild woods to the Gothic Watch Tower.

Shelter Building: Up in the rugged west end of Painshill, teams will gather together to find a good campsite. After instructions from the Painshill Staff, each team will construct a bivouac shelter using the natural materials they can find around them and their new woodland skills. Extra points for creativity!

Trails & Challenges: Team mates tackle the woodland team challenges, but shhhh... we are keeping these a secret until you get here.

Useful Plants:
As attendees make their way back to the visitor centre the Painshill Staff member will show the group where to forage for plants you can eat, cure flu with, or even make clothes out of. We will show you where to find something useful for every season; wild garlic in spring, all sorts of berries and flowers in summer, wild mushrooms and nuts in Autumn and herbs and fire lighting materials in winter.

Access and mobility: You do not have to be a world class athlete to take part, but you will be on your feet for a good two hours and will walk at around 2 miles in total, often offroad through uneven woods or grassland. So a low level of fitness, have-a-go spirit  and a good comfy pair of boots are necessary. Activities can be adapted to accomodate a range of access or mobility difficulties.
