Community

We believe Painshill has an important role to play in the Community. In 2011, over 2,446 people benefited from visiting Painshill during our special community open days and our education team gave away over £6,500 worth of education led activities to local state schools in need. Complimentary family tickets were also donated to local schools and charities for their fundraising events.

This is how we are helping the community in 2012.

Resettlement Project: The Painshill team works with the resettlement unit from a local prison work experience opportunities. This programme gives them a chance to skills, competences, and social awareness in a favourable working environment, therefore facilitating their resettlement in the community. Over 50 women have benefited from this scheme since the relationship began in 2003.

Community Service projects offer a unique learning experience, where getting close to nature is combined with a team experience, working with the rest of your group. For more information on these projects, please call us on 01932 868 113 or email Rachel Forsyth Training and Community Development Manager.

Wildlife. Painshill works closely with Leatherhead Wildlife Aid Foundation to provide a new home to rescued and often injured animals. The latest arrival is a female Egyptian Goose with a limp on her right leg.

Talks.  Painshill offers a Free Lunchtime talks programme. This years programme will run from April till September 2012.

Recycling. The shredded paper generated in the office helps a local family to look after their horses.

Walkers. Painshill welcomes regular visits by the Elmbridge Healthy Walkers group organised in partnership with Elmbridge Borough Council and Natural England.
