Our Seasonal Gardens…

You can marvel at our amazing evergreen tiered Amphitheatre, enjoy our Summer flowerbeds at the Elysian Plain and when Autumn arrives you can watch wonderful Autumn colour unfold across our 14 acre lake and take a stroll through Berry Walk.

Painshill is steeped in History and Visitors can explore one aspect of our 250 year journey by… Discovering our American Roots
Our American Roots Exhibition located in a Walled Garden, tells the amazing story of the 18th Century craze for new and exciting plants (exotics) particularly from North America.  The exhibition shows how seeds and plants were transported, historical planting techniques and underlines the importance of Painshill Park in the development of the English Landscape Movement. Our exhibition is open all year with the main floral displays from April to October.

Introducing our National Plant Collection
Come and see the John Bartram Heritage Collection of Trees and Shrubs!  Painshill has been awarded full collection status by the National Council for the Conservation of Plants and Gardens (NCCPG).  The collection is based on the lists of plants sent as seeds to Hamilton (and others) as part of the 18th Century Bartram/Collinson seed box scheme and trees grown from those seeds can still be found in the park today!

Enjoy our Spring & Free Lunchtime Talks
Throughout the year we hold a series of entertaining and informative Talks covering a wide range of interesting subjects! Our 30 minute Lunchtime Talks are Free - so why not pick one that interests you and put the date in your diary?

And if you can’t come to us – we’ll come to You …
